Track views, completion rates, and understand where your readers come from.

View tracking

Every time someone opens your guide, it counts as a view.

Unique visitors

We track unique visitors so repeat visits from the same person are counted once per day. This gives you a more accurate picture of your reach.

View sources

Views are tracked from three sources:

Source Description
Public Pages Direct visits to your guide URL
Embeds Guide embedded on another website
Widgets Opened through a Stepsies widget

The Insights dashboard shows you the breakdown of where your views come from.

Per-guide analytics

Click the analytics icon on any guide card to see detailed metrics:

  • Views — Total views for this guide
  • Completions — How many finished all steps
  • Completion rate — Percentage who completed
  • Steps — Number of steps in the guide

Time range

Select 7, 30, or 90 days to analyze different time periods.

Daily activity chart

See views and completions over time to identify:

  • Traffic patterns
  • Impact of promotions
  • Trends over time

Completion rate

This shows what percentage of readers make it through all steps of your guide.

Calculating completion rate

Completion Rate = (Completions ÷ Views) × 100

What’s a good completion rate?

  • 70%+ — Excellent engagement
  • 50-70% — Good, room for improvement
  • 30-50% — Consider shortening or improving content
  • Below 30% — Needs attention

Improving engagement

Keep guides focused

5-10 steps is ideal. Longer guides tend to have lower completion rates.

Make each step valuable

Every step should teach something or move the reader forward.

Use images effectively

Visual content keeps readers engaged and helps explain complex concepts.

Test with real users

Share with a few people before publishing widely. Ask where they got confused or lost interest.
