Step 3: Choose your source type

Select whether you want to convert a Web URL or upload a PDF file.

Option A: Web URL

Paste the full URL of the content you want to convert. This should be a publicly accessible web page.

https://blog.example.com/how-to-start-a-garden

Enter the URL of a blog post, help article, or documentation page.

URL requirements
  • The page must be publicly accessible (no login required)
  • Content-heavy pages work best (articles, tutorials, documentation)
  • Pages with mostly images or videos may not convert well

Option B: PDF Upload

Click the PDF option, then drag and drop your file or click to browse.

PDF up to 10MB

PDF requirements
  • Maximum file size: 10MB
  • Text-based PDFs work best (not scanned images)
  • Manuals, guides, reports, and ebooks convert well
  • Password-protected PDFs are not supported

Step 4: Wait for processing

After clicking Start Conversion, you’ll see a progress screen showing each stage:

Structuring content with AI
Analyzing and organizing into steps…

This usually takes 30-60 seconds

The conversion goes through these stages:

For Web URLs: 1. Fetching — Downloading the web page content 2. Extracting — Identifying the main content and removing clutter 3. Structuring — AI analyzes and breaks content into logical steps 4. Creating — Generating your new Stepsies guide

For PDFs: 1. Uploading — Your PDF is securely uploaded to our servers 2. Extracting — Text is extracted from the PDF pages 3. Structuring — AI analyzes and breaks content into logical steps 4. Creating — Generating your new Stepsies guide

Step 5: Review your guide

Once complete, you’ll see a success message with options to:

Edit Guide

Open the editor to review steps, make changes, add images, or adjust content before publishing.

Tips for best results

Works well with
  • How-to articles and tutorials
  • Step-by-step instructions
  • Documentation with clear sections
  • Process guides and SOPs
  • PDF manuals and guides
  • Reports and ebooks
May not work well with
  • Image galleries or portfolios
  • Video-only content
  • Pages requiring login
  • Single-paragraph content
  • Scanned PDFs (image-only)
  • Password-protected PDFs

After conversion, always review the generated steps. While AI does a good job structuring content, you may want to:

  • Adjust step titles for clarity
  • Reorder steps if needed
  • Add your own images or screenshots
  • Remove any unnecessary content
